With the economy taking a slump, it seems those who promote false money doctrines are doing whatever they can to keep some attention on themselves. Even if it means partnering with secular entertainment and hosting events that have absolutely nothing to do with the message of the Lord Jesus Christ. It’s not even an event that does any service of good works to the community. It’s not giving food to the poor or free medical care, just a free spot to praise Obama.

Now how exactly, does a “church” teaming with a secular entertainment broadcaster and having a “worship service” before a “live ceremony viewing celebration” do anything but worship man instead of God? It seems to worship Obama or seek to worship God through Obama, rather than keeping focus on God through the Lord Jesus. The message being sent to the world is to celebrate Obama with a so-called “church” rather than the church staying focused on the man Christ Jesus.
How many times must I continue to post this same scripture?

There should be no “partnership” with the church and a broadcaster that is about secular things. There should be no special events for the adoration of Caesars. (And I’ll say for you who would love to claim I made this post for political motives, that I did not vote for any of the US Presidential candidates. My motive in posting this is to help saints maintain focus on Christ instead of politics.) You will not find in the Bible where a CHURCH held special events for political figures and adoration of any publican.
Also Eddie Long, given he always stands in stark contrast to the teaching of Matthew 6. Instead of keeping prayers as something treated as private and not displayed for personal vanity, Eddie Long has published a set of “Holiday Prayers”. (Here’s a local copy of that document on the Eddie Long Club web site, in case it ever disappears from the Club New Birth web site.) How secular of him to say “Holiday”. Notice Eddie Long sees the election of Obama as a “century” of prayers answered. It’s not like this or this or this are giving Eddie Long any pause. It’s a Black man in the White House, so Eddie is in celebration. This is what happens when you seek political leadership on the basis of skin tone, instead of staying focused on Christ. This is what happens when you set your eyes on the affairs of this world.

As usual IC, well said…I am guessing that this Eddie Long Chap didn’t have this kind of celebration for Mr. Bush’s when he was inaugurated right?
Honestly, up here in Canada, I can’t say I have hardly even heard of this guy….sounds like I didn’t miss much..

IC, this is a worship service. As I said before Obama worship is in full effect.
Gee, how low can CNB go? This is really a weak attempt to appear to be civil-rightish and connected to “the community”.
Perhaps in the not too distant future, I can imagine “churches” partnering with porn sites to witness the “inarguration” of the antichrist when he shows up. If they can be bamboozled with this, there’s nothing to keep them from hawking the enemy’s main event. If E. Long is still at the helm, his spiritual blindness will ensure that.

I was there during the time of Bush’s first election and NO WAY IN THE WORLD would Eddie Long have ticked off the “Bush stole the election” criers by doing such a thing for Bush. (They were ticked that Eddie Long even went to visit Bush after his election. And Eddie later tickled their ears by hosting a “State of Black America” conference and saying “Just because we went to the house, does not mean we had intercourse.” Typical Eddie Long nasty talk. You can read more about that here and notice all the mess and reprobates Eddie allowed in while playing “host”, for an event not about Christ, but “Blackness”. I know I had just left some months before that occurred, so I definitely was already gone when Bush’s 2nd inauguration occurred.) I was gone by the time Bush’s second election occurred, but never heard of such being done for Bush’s 2nd inauguration. (And I had plenty of close contacts within Club New Birth back then and lived in the Atlanta area then, I think I would have heard about it.) This sort of thing Eddie Long is doing I doubt was ever done by him or even the pastor of that group before Eddie Long came in and the name was changed to “New Birth”. There are church groups hosting bus trips to DC for the inauguration. This sort of thing is unprecedented as far as I know, or at least church groups that are mostly Black were not falling into such nonsense before.
Obama is Black, so his winning for many is a “religious experience”.

I think it might have been right around the time Eddie Long got more into having “body guards” (one or more, I forget the number) that he started wanting to LOOK LIKE THE BODY GUARD(S). He said that he wanted to “connect” more with the men and next thing you know he started wearing the muscle shirts at “mens meetings”, to I guess look “manly” and next thing you know it was a regular part of his wardrobe, wearing them anytime anywhere. He suddenly wanted to keep looking more like a muscle man and showing it off.

If you recall IC, Eddie didn’t really start gathering “bodyguards” until he called out “Calypso Lou” about the million man march and it’s “worship of man” (ironic, since now he is perpetuating man worship of him and Obama). Also, all (and I do mean ALL) of his boyguards are (or at least they were when I was in the club) minsters-in-training or various “sons”. It was seen as a “training program”…

Yea, once Eddie Long started yucking it up on stage with Farra-the-Con I knew my leaving was exactly what God desired. In this post I mention that and have a copy of the actual document available that Eddie gave to us. Even the Eddie Long of 11-10 years ago would preach against having anything to do with the Eddie Long of today. Our leaving him only makes us consistent with what he used to once teach himself.
Regarding when he started with the “body guards”, I also recall he was complaining some woman’s husband was supposedly after him. For that woman going home and speaking against her husband’s actions based off stuff Eddie Long used to preach against. That’s when he started saying “don’t say I said it, say it’s what the Bible says” or something like that. He was getting the body guards, so something or a combination of things had him rather concerned. Paul never “hired” bodyguards, the saints would stand up for Paul if the Lord willed he receive protection and Paul left it at that.
When I think of Eddie Long’s 180 turn with Farra-the-Con, I also recall how he used to be so against the policies of Cynthia McKinney and then later he gave her a soft endorsement (not directly, but inferred it rather obviously). And we know he was likely doing that for political deals in his favor.

Why not connect by being a true spiritual leader i.e. one who leads other men by example into true submission to the Lord Jesus.

Well he’s reflecting the look of his “body guards”, there was one in particular that he mentioned he wanted to get his physique like.
And once he started the meetings with the men he started showing himself off.
I guess he’s setting an example for men at CNB to look like gay clubbers on steroids. Did he feel this was an appropriate means to address the issue of the many effeminate men at CNB?

Wow..I need to learn about this guy…are you saying he shared the stage with Farrakhan??? Ouch….
I knew up here in Canada, that in the White church per se, the trouble we saw quite often was liberalism and word faith silliness…but I always thought that down in he States that the Black Church was so strong…but ole satan seems to have his own way of attacking your churches…
I must say I am appalled at some of those Churches I thought were totally born again, are running to slobber all over Obama’s shoes???? I understand being proud and that is cool with Obama being America’s truly first black president (with apologies to Bill Clinton) but our First Love must be Christ…
I have to say, I was so hurt listening to Shirley Ceaser the following Sunday of the election talking about Obama…it sounded like idolatry…from a Woman that I always admired in the Lord and enjoyed her music…
Pray for our leaders…do not blindly worship them…

Yes, and he used to warn people to have nothing to do with Farrakhan! (Seriously, it was Eddie Long who started helping me see why nobody should ever have anything ever to ever ever do with Farrakhan. Which is why I expressed disappointment in this post.) It’s such a turn, the Atlanta-Journal Constitution once did an article about how Southern Black preachers have changed their tune regarding Farrakhan over time. (Apparently, about 10 years ago many of the Atlanta preachers were anti-Farrakhan, but many of them embrace that jackal now.) They didn’t include Eddie Long in that article, but he’s proven he’s right along with the rest of the lot, that does whatever looks good for the given moment.
No matter the race, the flesh is weak. Lord willing, some who fall for the strong delusion will find their first love.

The great apostasy is already here and increasing. Bishop Eddie Long is very difficult to understand. He barely uses the Bible when preaching. It’s more or less talking about himself and his life experiences.

This partnering of Long’s with the secular media/entertainment reminds me of Amaziah, king of Judah in 2 chronicles 25, who hired soldiers from the 10 northern tribes with 100 talents of silver. Here is what God said about this unequal yoking, ” But a man of God came to him, saying, “O king, do not let the army of Israel go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel—not with any of the children of Ephraim. 8 But if you go, be gone! Be strong in battle! Even so, God shall make you fall before the enemy; for God has power to help and to overthrow.”
God does not want Christians partnering with unbelievers in spiritual pursuits for essentially the same reason: The Lord is not with the unbeliever. We will fall for their sake.
I don’t consider Eddie Long a brother in the Lord, though, so, in his case, partnering with the world is actually a very equal yoking after all. It is just that we should take warning as believers to avoid the ways of these Pretenders-in-the-Pulpit who are masquerading as ministers of righteousness and misleading their people.
