Steve Munsey on a Turkey Hunt for The Inspiration Network (Video)

by @ 3:12 am. Filed under Nuts on Parade, Video

I’ve warned you before how supposedly Christian TV networks recruit men like Steve Munsey when they have fund raisers. Using his charlatan games and claims of wondrous miracles if you give your money “now”. Of course in the New Testament of the Bible Jesus performed many a miracle without a requirement of a financial donation from the person he helped. So you know Munsey does not use the New Testament much at all in his pitch to raise money. He uses mainly Old Testament scriptures for the vast majority of his work. Playing on any story he can think of to make people feel, that if they pick up the phone and give money “now” they will get a blessing. Remember the warning from the apostle Peter?

2 Peter 2:3 (New King James Version)

3) By covetousness they will exploit you with deceptive words; for a long time their judgment has not been idle, and their destruction does not slumber.

I turned on my TV last night and tuned to The Inspiration Network. Instead of finding “inspiration” there I found pimpster Steve Munsey in full swing! The network was having a fund raiser and proved they are just like TBN, God TV and any other that has called in Munsey, to play his Prosperity Gospel styled trickery for money. I was able to capture some of the nonsense and uploaded it to YouTube.

See the video of Steve Munsey in action.

Munsey won’t tell you that Jesus healed people who
had not given him a dime prior to their being healed.

Munsey’s donation number of choice was 77. He played on Old Testament figure Hezekiah giving 7 bullocks and 7 rams. Munsey said:

God is into numbers

What he did not say is how God works when his followers are asked for money by the needy, instead of supposed followers of Christ asking people for money and telling them not to worry about their bills. These kinds are verses are never mentioned by Munsey.

Acts 3:1-10 (New King James Version)

1) Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth hour.

2) And a certain man lame from his mother?s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;

3) who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.

4) And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, ?Look at us.?

5) So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

6) Then Peter said, ?Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.?

7) And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.

8) So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them?walking, leaping, and praising God.

9) And all the people saw him walking and praising God.

10) Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.

During parts of Munsey’s pitch, more people were “talking in tongues” than could be counted, with not a single interpretation. Unless you consider the messages Munsey claims he gets from God as he babbles. The apostle Paul said speaking in tongues should be done in order, with no more than 3 and interpretation given. And for those of you who claim this mess can’t be “judged”, the apostle Paul has a message for you.

1 Corinthians 14:29 (New King James Version)

29) Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others judge.

Of course there were not any efforts to “judge” any of that supposed “tongue talking”. But anyone could see it was BOGUS. Although I could not capture it for the video clip, there were times when it seemed the entire group of singers was supposedly tongue talking.

Munsey claimed this was the “Now moment” and you had to give “now” to get your “blessing”. He claimed that God would move EVERYONE into the “now” if they gave “now”, to be blessed. He claimed that since Jesus said when 2-3 are gathered together he is in the mist, that:

If you hear a busy signal, God is talking.

What a crock!

Munsey played on David making a “vow” to be blessed. He claimed a form of the Old Testament vow and blessing had by David could be yours if you called “now”. At the bottom of the screen various messages flashed, including the following.

  • Sow an uncommon seed and receive a miraculous harvest
  • Sow an uncommon seed to reap an uncommon harvest
  • Call now, your prayer requests will be placed on the alter
  • Call now with your first of three $77 offerings
  • Pastor Steve Munsey challenges you to give a gift of $77 – $770 – $7,770!

The pledge line phone number was at the bottom of the screen in LARGE PRINT, while occasionally a separate prayer line number would appear in smaller type.

Part of Munsey’s declarations of miracles coming included this statement:

This is your last night to weep. Cause the NOW is coming. To do a miracle in your house.

Of course to be part of the “now”, you were to give some donation that related to 77 or 777. I considered calling to pledge 77 cents, but I figured it would not be very Christian of me to call just to antagonize a phone operator.

Munsey then went for the home run.
He compared giving The Inspiration Network $77 to the woman near death who gave her last bit of food Elijah (Old Testament). I immediately prayed to God that nobody fall for that trick. Imagine if some poor old woman gave that network of charlatans money she was going to use for food or medicine?

Munsey said the woman may have sold the food she received later to make money for herself in the starving town. He even played on the sick son. Munsey basically compared himself to the prophet Elijah! He claimed healing was coming for things like cancer. I just pray nobody fell for it, but judging by the scrolling names on screen, somebody probably did. Munsey asked people to give of their lack. Of money that is due to bill collectors!!! He told people not to worry about their bills that were coming due.

Then, just when you thought he could go no further, he pulled out his old “double portion” card! Playing on the old Old Testament scripture of Joel chapter 2. He claimed:

Today is the day of the beginning of the double portion.

Totally making a mockery of the Old Testament Feast of Atonement . Never mind that prior to the feast mentioned, there was fasting, weeping, mourning, turning to God with all their hearts and offerings of grain and drink, NOT MONEY. Munsey claimed, that simply giving money and their “prayers” over your request would bring you a double portion blessing. Of course he didn’t mention, that he was citing scripture that was part of the old covenant with the Jews and we Christians live under the new covenant Grace found in Jesus Christ. Munsey played on the Hebrew calendar, with his own customized “feast”, that he claims comes about by simply giving money. Give Munsey a scripture and he’s sure to trash it for profit. Give Munsey your money and you’re sure to be the turkey he feast on to continue his trickery.

As quickly as the words “double portion” came from Munsey’s mouth, the following appeared on the bottom of the screen.

RECEIVE A DOUBLE PORTION WHEN YOU SOW A GIFT TO HONOR GOD

This was a text book example of Prosperity Gospel Pimpery in full bloom.

Darnell, I didn’t even have to watch the entire clip to know the foolishness that Munsey peddles. I’m sure that $77 seed had something to do with the “law of 7”. Last year he claimed the “law of 6”, but when that trickery didn’t work he came back with the “law of 7”. When will the saints wake up and understand that God has already given us the victory over every circumstance and situation in our lives. All we have to do is follow Matthew 6:33 and obey the commandments of Christ. By the way, why do people always run to the Old Testament when it comes to giving? Why do I have to “seal” what God has done for me with a seed? I’m sure you know the answers.

And last night Munsey was speaking of $77 being THE FIRST PAYMENT OF A 3-5 PAYMENT PLAN.

Today I turned to the station and although Munsey is not on it’s worse than last night. Earlier they were asking for $120 payments and $50 per month payments, then they went to $1000 donations and were making all sorts of claims of the blessings you’d get for giving that. The messages at the bottom of the screen are worse also.

Not only do they play on Old Testament scriptures because there are less mentions of coming persecution, but promises because Jesus was coming. (They would not make much if they told us Jesus promised we would be abused on Earth as he was and the rewards await in Heaven where Jesus prepares for us.) They also totally twist the Old Testament scriptures from their original use. If they were true to the Old Testament scriptures, they’d be asking people to send in barrels of grain, drink, oils and other plant products. You’d see actual rams, bullocks and other animals outside the studio being offered 😀 . I’d enjoy seeing someone give them those and claim they wanted to be TRUE to the scriptures they profess.

It seems some of these pulpit pimps are doing a lot to enhance their “looks” these days.

What you saw of Munsey could have been old tape or are you sure it was new footage? I mean they seem to do so much to themselves these days you never know.
